The P.S.C. WebRing is possible due to the efforts of the technicians at the WebRing.org. And; people like yourself that want to continue "the ring" and its integrity.

The Web Ring:
This WebRing has been gradually growing since the creation of The Break Room in July of 1996, when there were NO other websites for or about public safety dispatchers. I've worked hard to develop as much presence on the WWW for our profession as I could. Now there are more and more sites created by, developed for, and honoring our chosen career path.I'd like to make this the biggest, most comprehensive "network" for public safety communications and 9-1-1 personnel on the WEB. The P.S.C. Ring was developed for Law Enforcement, Fire Services, EMS and 9-1-1 dispatchers, telecommunicators, communications operators, (whatever title is used for the job), emergency communications volunteers and "WEB Surfers."
This innovative method of "Networking" is becoming very effective in navigating the Internet. More sites are being added to the WWW every day. By using the ring (eventually, as more sites join!), you can move from one tried and tested, quality Public Safety Communications Site to the next until you eventually end up back on the site where you started (although this could take awhile, since - as of early 2000 - there are sixty ring members).
The ring also enables you to: Skip a Site; See the Next 5 Sites; Travel to a Random Site within the Ring; or even see the Previous Site within the Ring.
NetSurfers: Recommend a site for addition to the "P.S.C.
WebRing."
Send E-Mail to The RingMistress @ P.S.C.WebRing.
Please include the full URL of the site, the site Title, and the E-Mail address of the WebMaster or Site Administrator, if known.
After the site has been added to the ring queue (generally via the form on the ring homepage--see below) they will be given a site ID number. With this, the images, and a fragment of html code (also available from the ring homepage), they can make the necessary changes to their PSC SITE and then ask the PSC WebRingMistress to add them.
Add a site to the P.S.C. WebRing:
Fill out the form below to register the site. Note that this does not insert you in the ring; it simply makes your site known to the PSC Ring program and the RingMistress and other members of the ring. You will receive a Site ID Number. The actual insertion into the ring is done later by the RingMistress.
You will recieve a confirmation once the site is added to the Queue
(a
waiting or holding bin for admission following approval for membership to the ring).
NetSurfers and WebMasters; Use this form to add a site to the queue:
After the necessary scripts, URLs and image(s) are added to your site, it will be added to the P.S.C. WebRing.
Now... Go here and follow the instructions... OK???
If you are already an P.S.C. WebRing member and wish to edit your site information:

This is the ring id:
breakroomThis is the ring Title:
Public Safety Communications WebRingThe Site id # for The Break Room site is: 1
The nuts and bolts:
Typically each member's page will contain a uniform fragment of HTML identifying the site as a ring member and containing links to the ring's homepage. Also contained in the "fragment" is information that the WebRing.org SERVER uses to identify your site and direct the Web Surfer to the appropriate site requested by the Surfer such as: The Next Site; The Previous Site, etc...
And: "Want to Join the ring???" This should contain the URL (LINK) of the Home Command. It is where you are now.
The fragment will also contain links to one or more of the following: next site, skip next site, next 5 sites, previous site, random site.
/ Previous / Skip / Next / Next5 / Random /This is a sample of the navigation portion of the HMTL fragment:
(It will be provided for you.) If you wish to copy it off this page, use the full example further down. However you will have to edit some of the information. You will NEED to replace the reference to "site ID here" to the site ID number WebRing.Org gives to you when you apply! See below...

First:
Copy the image below to your hard drive to use on your site:
Put this "WebRing image" (above)on your site so it is easily identifiable with the P.S.C. Ring. Please use this image on your PSC site index or PSC page. "The page (URL) that is linked to the ring." It was created JUST FOR US by Outrage69 and needs to be associated with the P.S.C. WebRing HTML fragment.
PSC WebRing
Please note: The CGI-BIN at the WebRing.org needs the URL where the images and script are, so the site can be verified as a RING member for ring integrity testing. Also, Web Net Surfers should not have to "hunt" for the P.S.C. WebRing information. It is unfair to other "ring members" to have a Net Surfer stuck and out of the ring when they end up at a site that does not have the information accessible. If you chose to put the P.S.C. WebRing info on a page other than the index or main page, then it would be to your benefit to have your site's title on that page so that it's easily identified. ALSO: it is best to have a link on that page pointing back to the index or main page.
If the PSC WebRing script is not on the page that is registered with the ring, please place a copy of the image or other identifier stating ring membership on the page that is linked with the RING.
The script, hypertext, fragment, or whatever you want to call it below has the images loading from my directory. If you have your image in the same -- or different -- directory as your HTML documents or some other directory, please edit the script accordingly.
Second:
Add the HTML fragments below.
Add the HTML fragments below directly to your PSC Page only. The HTML fragment MUST be on the same page as your PSC index page or the page (URL) that you have provided above. PLEASE do not make a user of the ring have to search for your PSC page, or search for the next site in the ring.
Note: you can use the same format or font or color below or create your own, however: the URLs must be exact and the image must not be altered!
Use any format that you wish, but please do not change the image and don't alter the fragments except for the ID and your personal info. If the hypertext URLs are not exact, except for the ID#, the site will not be accessible from the ring. See below....
Third:
Change the e-mail address and change the name of the site so that it is your own. (YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS HERE)
Change the Ring ID to yours. ( YOUR ID HERE)
The First site's (The Break Room) ID is: 1. Here is an example of the HTML fragment:
The second Site in the ring would have a 2 for the ID.
<"http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=breakroom&id=1">I prefer that you save the P.S.C. WebRing Logo to your own directory and load it from your own server.(pscringlogo.gif)
Make sure the image fragment points to the graphic on your own site: (ie: the URL of the page and directory where the images are located).
The P.S.C. Webring image, however, should still link to:
<"http://www.gryeyes.com/pscring.htm">.Change the site's name and owner to your name or site title. (YOUR NAME HERE)
Change the site's title. (YOUR SITE'S TITLE HERE)
That's it!
Here is the fragment: (Do NOT copy the WebRing Code from the document/page source; copy it straight from this page as you view it in your browser!!)

NOW: add your site to the queue if you have not done that already and send the RingMistress E-Mail.
When adding a site:
E-mail the P.S.C. WebMistress and ask her (that's me) to add you to the ring. Be sure to include your Site ID Number. I will want to look at your page to make sure it is worthy of addition and make sure the P.S.C. Ring HTML fragment on your page is okay. So, add the site title and URL in the E-Mail message.
After checking out your page (and finding no errors or other problems) I will take your Site ID Number and use it to add you to the ring. An e-mail will follow telling you that you have been added.
It is prefered to have the Web Ring Mistress notified via E-Mail for addition to the Ring. (Sometimes the WebRing doesn't notify me automatically - I don't know why!) P.S.C. WebRingMistress
This will prompt me to evaluate the site and speed up the admission process. After the addition to the Ring, you should be able to navigate the entire ring until you make it back to your own page.
Ring WebMasters please note: The PSC Ring is for quality and informative sites only. If I feel that a site is empty in content, "off topic" from Public Safety Communications, or poorly organized, then I won't be adding that site. I'll e-mail the owner of the site with my reasons, and maybe some possible corrections or alternatives. So please don't suggest sites that don't fit the PSC ring criteria. As a member of the Ring, you have the responsibility to help preserve the integrity of the ring. You wouldn't want a poorly organized or non-Public Safety Communications related site before your site on the ring: Give the same respect to the rest of the ring.
Any questions? I had many... Are you confused? Please send E-Mail to the Public Safety Communications WebRingMistress.
